We set off at 10:15 for the airport. When we looked at our boarding passes we didn’t have TSA pre check. After a bit of an odyssey we learned we didn’t get the 6 month, 3 month, 2 month, 1 month or two week notification that it was expiring. We tried to renew in person but it turns out they don’t work on weekends. We had to go through regular security and the TSA people were so nice. Luckily, there was literally no one else in line, so we went right through – without our shoes and coats on. We ate lunch at Smashburger and it was really good.
We watched Theater Camp and Coco on the plane to Boston. We got in the line for the bus to the international terminal. That’s when things started feeling a little eastern bloc. We went to the very end of terminal A and waited by a little sign on a stick that said Wait here for bus to Terminal E. We stood and waited. For 25 minutes. Not quite as expedient as you would hope. We went down a ramp, then out an emergency door, door some temporary stairs, onto a waiting bus. We sat on the bus for a bit, then drove to an emergency door into terminal E. We ordered pizza and waited 25 minutes with a lot of other people. It just doesn’t feel like we are still in the US.
The pizza is really good.
Somehow it is already 6:30. We board in 20 minutes and then we will be in Portugal. Wow.
Portugal… We hear that it’s a nice place. Say hi to our friend, Sérgio Carolino (he’s a tuba player, of course). I’m sure you’ll bump into him at some point. Okay… Maybe you won’t…. Anyway, looking forward to hearing about the adventure!
