Our Amazing High Street

In January 2020, Treorchy won best high street in the UK. Woohooo Treorchy. We live on the high street, kind of at the end, (the end of Treorchy. As mentioned before, the street itself goes on and on. The next town is Ynyswen. It is pronounced some way. It used to have a Burberry factory) and it is fabulous (our high street. That kinda gets lost in the sentence). Keith worked early with China, then the 2-10 shift with the regular folks for a long meeting. About 9:30, I walked down a block to our go-to, Rhondda Pizza and Kebab. Most places close up pretty early around here, but the guys at Pizza and Kebab are there until midnight. I ordered a Rhondda special pizza (pepperoni, ham, beef, corn, tomatoes, onion, pepper, and mushroom) and was walking home in about 10 minutes. I can’t even say how much I love being able to walk everywhere. I haven’t actually been there before tonight, but my accent gave me away. They asked me where my husband was. That’s delightful.

I went down the street today to take an inventory of all the things available in the distance of a few blocks. It is an amazing list.

    1. Started with kebab, and garlic bread, and fries. Delicious. Next night we had pizza, and garlic bread because it was amazing, and they just added some cheese bread and wings to the bag. Obviously good pizza because we are back again tonight. I have been cooking. Now, not so much

  1. Your sister Nancy

You should be on the Treorchy Chamber of Commerce! Wow. How long did it take you to make this list?

  2. Well, for a town I have obviously never heard of, I think I quite like it. It appears that people must support local businesses, or all those options wouldn’t be there. Interesting that there’s a Subway and a Dominos. Also, no phone store or Starbucks. I like this town!

    1. Yes, two generic phone stores, but no Starbucks. Costa coffee is the chain around here, but you have to get closer to Cardiff to see one. It is charming to think locals are supporting local business
