Ren in the Glen

Ren in the Glen is a small renaissance festival outside Glenwood City, Wisconsin. Alexander has a booth there each year. Keith was not up to going this year, but my friend, Maren, and her kids took me. What a wonderful thing it was to spend the day with them.

When we arrived at where Alexander’s booth has been in past years, it was an empty spot. He had a sore throat on Thursday and went to the doctor (where he got steroid “juice”). I was afraid that he had gotten sick and wasn’t there. We walked on just a bit, and suddenly I saw him through the back of his tent. We sent the kids in first, just to see if he would notice who they were. Each of the vendors at this festival has beads for the kids to collect. Most of them require the kids to perform some task to earn their bead – dance, tell a joke, answer a question, etc. The kids went in and zoomed back to us, reporting that Alexander did not have beads. LAME!!!! We called him out, but he said he got the option to opt out and took it. LAME! The beads are the best part.

We watched the knights fight and shopped all the vendors (NO ONE else did not have beads). There were enough clouds to make the day quite lovely. Alexander sold quite a few masks and said he really just had the dregs left. I think that means it was a complete success. He will be busy making new stock for the fall fest he attends.

I came home and immediately took a nap. Keith is very supportive, so he took a nap, too. We then decided to watch AN episode of new season 3 of Blown Away – a glass blowing competition show. AN episode turned into five episodes and now we are so tired.

  1. We have cooking, sewing, art, gardening and pottery but yet to have glass blowing. I look forward to that one arriving over here.
Please tell Alexander I liked his masks. Summer and her friend wore similar one to a Steam Punk do last year.
    🙂
