We met Alexander at the UofMN Reuse Center in Minneapolis. It is a big warehouse full of junk. He bought a new laser today and he was looking for a very sturdy table to put it on. He found the perfect thing. Win. He also saw some short dressers – three nice drawers – that he thought he might be able to make into a wall full of storage. We checked the price. Dressers are free!! WIN!!!
We drove up University Ave. to The King’s Thai restaurant – what used to be Alexander’s favorite Thai restaurant but is now everyone’s favorite Thai restaurant. We were all delighted with our ordering. Such a winning day.
Keith and I continued north to Anoka to the Lyric Arts theater to see Home, I’m Darling. (No, I didn’t mistype that) It was about a contemporary couple living like it was the 1950s. They wore vintage clothes, had vintage appliances, ate homecooked meals, had cocktails after work, and had time to clean behind things. They didn’t go to the mall, use cell phones, or eat pizza. Ooof. It was a very interesting concept – they were nostalgic for a time they had never lived in and were trying to make it real. Things did not always go as expected. I really enjoyed it, although I would have preferred there had been less “living in the 50s” and more time working through the surprise difficulties. It will give me thoughts for a few days, I think.
