You would think given the number of roller coasters we have ridden, we would have thought that the play’s title referred to a ride, but we both thought of weather. Huh. It was a roller coaster. It broke and everybody died in the first five minutes of the show. I didn’t see that coming.
The show was about six people in limbo after the accident – given the opportunity to send one back to life with a unanimous vote. Each person has a chance to state their case (and as it was a musical, they sang about it) and their cases were veeerrrrry different. All six actors were very good, but Kaoru Shoji (playing Jane Doe) was just spectacular. Her portrayal of a headless, unidentified body was amazing, and her singing was even better. I hope we see her in other things.
Right before the show, Keith was talking to Benjamin about his still frozen kitchen pipe. He has been warming it with a hair dryer to no effect and started using a space heater to warm up the garage (garage is under the kitchen), but by the time the show ended, the pipe had burst. He was upstairs and heard a distant, but definitely big, sound. He ran to the shut off valve first, then checked the garage ceiling to see a lot of water. He should live closer so his father can go over and fix things. It is not okay for him to be so far. He should live right here in our house. That is what I am thinking right now. We’re gone a lot. He could live alone a lot. We would have a craps table in our basement and I would win hundreds of pretend dollars. I see no downsides.
Fourteen police cars with lights and sirens went the opposite direction as we drove home on I-694. That is a bit scary. Maren heard through the rumors that ICE was in the neighborhood today. That is a bit scary, but not if they are here, they aren’t harassing someone else. I don’t know how this can still be going on.
