Self Portraits

Sea World San Diego was closed today because of flooding. Another atmospheric river is hanging over California, so we got out just in time. There is supposed to be lots more rain and floods and bad. We are so lucky.

Meanwhile, back in MN, with a tiny bit of snow left from last week (most of it on our driveway. We didn’t expect to have to have the driveway plowed because we’d had a total of 7 inches of snow all winter – most of it on Halloween. Wednesday into Thursday added 6 inches to our season total. Since our driveway is on the north side and it did get cold for a few days, we have crusty white still in place. It is going to be 50 sometime in the next week. We are just leaving it for the sun to take care of), I went back to work.

I was in media and we read a book about self, then made Lego self portraits. I think they are awesome. I loved to see what they came up with – how different or the same they were to each other. These pictures are from 5th graders, but I did it with 5th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd. Seeing the difference between grade levels was great fun. I only had to bite my tongue once when my adult brain wanted to say, “Add some more.” I’m glad I remembered this was a SELF portrait before I said anything.

  1. I had a flashback from all those angles–reminds me of Etch A Sketch, but with color. Sometimes it’s fun to be old.😊
