We are in Belgrade, Serbia today. We walked around the original town fortress (extra old). Belgrade is at the corner of Danube and Sava rivers – a very important location. The city has fallen about 20 times through the ages, because someone always wants it.
We went to Saint Sava’s temple. Our guide told us we would have a wow moment when we went inside, and we did! That was fun. I do like a bit of shiny.
We went to the Nikola Tesla museum. It was interesting. From the Serbian perspective you just hear the name Edison briefly (and pleasantly) and then move on. I liked that. We held florescent light bulbs and they lit up when they turned on the Tesla coil. Funtivity.
We had the schnitzel filled with cream cheese and proscuitto (I would have called it Chicken Kiev..) that was the best meal of the trip so far.
Parked in the harbor just a short walk from our ship is a floating museum: the restored SMS Bodrog, the warship that fired the first shots of WWI.
I woke up at 4 am and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I am zonked now. Has that happened every day? Maybe. I don’t remember. It’s 0-0 in the 5th for the Brewers going for 15 wins in a row. Fingers crossed!
