Such Joy

A carwash just fills me with joy. It is so exciting and so peaceful and so great. Keith and I stopped for car cleaning on the way home from brass band because I am the carpool driver for tomorrow, and we wanted to not have our car feel sad for being so dirty in front of guests. Keith and I discussed his need for blurting out random things while we should be observing the happy silence of concentration of a carwash. If you just talk through it, you forget to wallow in all the happiness. He kept quiet the whole time and everything was great.

I was at work today and a very, very small person came out of a classroom with a backpack on his head. It was a very rectangular backpack, so he really looked like a robot. I asked if he was going to his locker to put his backpack away. He carefully pulled up the front of the pack, looked at me, and asked, “Are you my mom?” I said no. He shrugged, and replaced the backpack, then continued to his locker. That was a pretty joyful moment, too.

Today was quite a win.
