The Dump, Whoa Nellie, and someone gave me a pancake

Friday, May 16, 2025

Rob taught us that there is a dump near Woodbury. We have lived here for 32 years and had no idea. Wow. It is not very far from us and is waaay cheaper than asking to pay your garbage people extra to take something for you. They loaded up the huge pile of garbage (construction leftovers, flat rubber balls*, etc.) into Rob’s truck and went to the dump. You drive up to the Scale House, where your vehicle is weighed, go to dump off your stuff, drive back to be weighed, pay, and leave. Fantastic. It cost $51. After Keith and Alexander and I went to Obb’s Restaurant for all-you-can-eat fish fry, Keith took me to see the dump. It was a lovely outing until our car started sounding TERRIBLE. We pulled over and removed a bit of tree branch from underneath.

Alexander started with a mountain of fish and fries, then ordered one more piece of fish. This is about 2/3 of it. Between the three of us, it was eaten.
Just a stick, not a flat tire. Yay

We went to the History Theatre tonight for the world premiere of Whoa, Nellie – a musical about Nellie King, “famous” cowboy detective of the Twin Cities in the 1880s. It was really interesting. Very talented singers (eventually I am going to start expecting it, but right now I am still blown away by our local talent), very interesting story telling, and a earworm of a song called Boom Town. (Get. It. Out.) As with many History Theatre shows, it was written by a local about MN history and could use some editing. There was just a bit too much of everything. All good everythings, but then it got long.

Kinda like the potd!

AND I went to work this morning and someone was having a meeting in the library – complete with snacks, and pancakes, and bacon. I went and read my sub notes at the checkout desk, and someone came over and invited me to have a pancake with them. I was thrilled. I started to say no, then realized that was just ridiculous and had a pancake with strawberries and whipped cream and three pieces of bacon. Three because I went back after the first one was delicious.

What a winning day!

P.S. The temperature has dropped over 50 degrees since Monday. I am thinking that the cleaning of the house and final bits of moving stuff is going to be way easier this weekend than it was at 95 degrees on Monday. Winning the weather!

*Keith just read this before publishing. He apparently forgot to put the flat rubber balls in the truck. They are still on the shelf in the garage. I bet Maren wants a flat rubber ball or two.
