The perfect time

After school I took a nap to get powered up to try to finish emptying the house. The new people are having the carpets cleaned Friday, so there was a real push to empty the basement. It has seemed really close to being empty for about ten days. There might be some sort of Greek god punishment going on…the closer it seems to being done, the more stuff appears.

As we seemed to get closer to our goal, I was able to keep going only because Keith was really running out of steam. He had moved all of the remaining furniture (our bedroom, a couch, the freezer, a cabinet) plus wagon after wagon after wagon of stuff from backdoor to backdoor. I couldn’t give up, because he would never give up. I was flipping open cabinet doors in the basement to check for lurking stuff, when I came upon the potd!!!!

I laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed. I was very rejuvenated and we finished the basement!

A couple classroom moves ago, Maren picked up a stack of school pictures from a drawer she was going through and said, “What am I supposed to do with these?” I just took them out of her hand and said, “Let me take care of them.” I hung them all – 8×10, 5x7s, and wallets – from 5 years on my refrigerator. The next time she came over was HILARIOUS. When they were done being on the refrigerator, I pasted them to a bucket and put her classroom markers in it. Kids were using the markers for a while before she noticed.

You kinda gotta wonder a little bit why she wants to live next door.

  1. So I just got caught up and really enjoyed the adventures you had with moving. Your posts are so refreshing and sometimes, very funny. I love that Gary and I can call the Thompson’s “friends”. We are bay thinking about twins and how it works. Have a great weekend!
