We went to Lyric Arts to see The Rainmaker this afternoon. It was a set in a nebulous time of drought in a western town. The ranch family was worried about their plain daughter/sister being an old maid. A self-proclaimed con man and liar came to their house and offered to make it rain for $100. He offered them a chance – if he made it rain, they would be so happy, if he didn’t, they would be out some money and nothing else. Very interesting things happened after they took him up on his offer.
I really liked the story – it was a thinker – and the cast was stellar. Just stellar. The dialog felt very real between family members and was often very funny. Each character was so different and each actor really gave them personality.
There was a Metro Brass rehearsal tonight and the band sounded really good. Keith sounded really, really good (I am his biggest fan, but also his biggest critic. He was gooood). Their concert is March 28. Hope you can come.
Did it rain?
