To be Remembered

What a gift it is to find out that someone was thinking of you! We got this postcard today – mailed from the Vatican on October 26. The message says, “They said we could write a postcard and get a Vatican City stamp, so naturally we thought of you.”

Wow. Just wow. I feel so wonderful that I could pop into someone else’s vacation experience. Thank you, Daniel and Amanda!!!

Today, I am also remembering a friend, but very sadly, it is because she passed away late Saturday night. You may remember the friend I job shared with last year, while she was undergoing chemotherapy. The end of her very difficult journey came Saturday. There was nothing good about the 17 months she fought cancer. The treatments made her feel awful, and they didn’t really work. She kept trying, over and over willing to start again. She sure was tough and she sure tried. I really wish she had won.

  1. Well, dang it all… So sorry she’s left us, but so happy she got to have YOU for a friend AND that she got to be a teacher – she left an indelible mark, no doubt.

  2. I’m sorry about your friend. I do remember your writing about her. She sounded like a lovely person, and it sounds like she handled an incredibly difficult situation with courage and grace.
