Two Trips through the void and a birthday

Tuesday, August 27, 2024

It’s Alexander’s birthday! We went to pick him up (his power was supposed to be back TOMORROW, but they surprised him with mid-day repair today. Happy birthday!) for dinner and the GPS lady took us right through the middle of the 3M campus. Wow, what a void! We have been around that place on every side, but never even knew there was a road through it! How exciting.

There were a lot of big branches and little branches down everywhere. The storm was definitely much worse in town than in the suburbs. We drove to Minneapolis to the Chatterbox Pub for some heavy mac and cheese. Why is it called heavy mac? Well, officially, it’s not, but that is what the boys call it (of course they have a name for everything). The very cheesy cavatappi dish lets you add three additional toppings; Alexander likes to add bacon, ham, and pulled pork. It becomes quite a big meal at that point (and delicious). I had bacon, pulled pork, and garlic mushrooms. Keith had a barbacoa pot roast, because he never orders what you think we came for.

On our way home, we took the detour to Century only to get detoured to Ruth from that detour, then Keith just wildly turned left onto a road we had never been on before (VOID!) and we ended up right on 94E. Quite a little miracle.
