Obviously we are in Vidin because that is what the sign says!
We took a drive to see the fortress of Belogradchik. It was a nice drive through the countryside. This place was under the ocean some million years ago, then continents shifted and rocks poked up, then more millions of years and it got drier and then it was today and we went there. I went partway up because of a pounding heart and Keith went all the way up. He reported lovely views and optional safety.

The nearby town had an artist paint their electrical boxes all around town. It was fun to try to get pictures because you never knew were they were going to pop up – high, low, in front, or in back. Art is so great.
We were back for lunch. I ordered two things for lunch – a main dish salad as my started and kung pao chicken. The waiter commented on my appetite and eating so much, so then I felt really bad. He asked if I was going to order dessert too, and of course I said no. The salad was small, I would have been so hungry if that was all of my lunch. My kung pao had four pieces of chicken. I wasn’t full even after two main meals. I guess I do have quite an appetite.
We walked a mile down the river to see the Baba Vida because we share a name. It is the most fortressy of all fortresses in Bulgaria (or something). It was 95F and hot even in the shade. We found vending machines on the sidewalk on the way there.

We are watching the movie Hit Man (half done) in our room and so far I am really liking it. We could get up at 6am to watch us go through a double lock tomorrow. We aren’t going to.

GOTD (game of the day): decode the Cyrillic letters in the potd using the Cyrillic-to-Latin alphabet map in yesterday’s post.
