We bought a house

Surprise! We are moving!

Yes, we put in an offer on the house next door this morning and it was accepted. We have been seeeeeriouuuussssly considering it all week. We had a great conversation with Maren and Rob about buying our house, then we laboriously tried to figure out (together) what the prices of these houses should be. Meanwhile, we were getting ready for company and working and going to shows. Busy times.

I volunteered to call the realtor at some point during the week, and I actually was the one who did it. If you don’t know what a big deal that is, you should meet me some time. There is a bit of confusion about the square footage of the house – the realtor really wanted to call it 4100 sq ft, since there is an almost 500 sq ft crawl space that isn’t in the “legal” number on the MLS listing. I stuck hard that it is a 3600 sq ft house and our offer reflected that. I do not get pushed over! What? Yes! there is a first time for everything!!!

Maren is excited. I am excited for her to have an amazing house. I hope she (oh, and that nice family that comes along with her) loves our house. Keith is excited for his new, bigger office. He has a cute idea for his CARS street. It is a bigger space, so trumpets and working will co-exist more easily.

Maren keeps telling us that we will have total access to the pool, which we are very happy about and will try not to take advantage of. It has been quite a day. I am just exhausted. We close on April 28. My brother, David, suggested a conveyor belt for moving. Benjamin is all for putting it between the decks. If anyone has one, let us know.

Oh! Keith made breakfast this morning! I came down and there it was – beautiful. It was the only picture I took today.

  1. Exciting news! I know a couple of very qualified and retired from real work people who would love to help with the moving.

This is going to be GREAT!! Congratulations!! I can get all the moving boxes and packing paper you might need. And Mark and I can help, whenever you need us!!

  3. I don’t think I’ve ever known anybody who moved next door! In addition to being a great move for both you guys and Rob and Maren, we are still going to know how to get to your house! The thing is, Rob and Maren, how many times are you going to answer your door and have to say “Remember? they moved next door.” The good news is that it will only be fun people who make the mistake and ring your doorbell. Celebrating this with all of you!!! Good times ahead! (But hasn’t that always been the case???)

  4. P.S. There’s a Metro Brass program that weekend… I know the answer – everyone who goes to the concert and the members of Metro Brass just stays and participates in the move! It’s an idea….

  5. Just read your blog to Tom. We chuckled about the listing, and chuckled more about our listing. Our cabin was listed as a three bedroom!
