It actually came last Thursday, but there has been other stuff to talk about. We had hail damage last year and the insurance people gave us about 40% of what the new roof cost. Of course, they gave it to us last fall and it went into the checking account and disappeared, so it feels like paying for it all by ourselves. Look at us! All grown up and buying a roof. Anyway, we had to pick out a color. We picked the darkest brown. We looked at two variegated lighter shingles but thought they were way too light and would blend into the house too much. There was no question the dark one was right.
Then they put it on and it’s pretty light and just blends into the house. I think it is hilariously ugly and Keith thinks it looks fine. Well, I think it looks fine while being hilariously ugly, because it doesn’t matter at all. I think roof people should know that brick houses look better with a solid roof – there’s lots of stuff going on on the house, so the roof can calm down. Solid houses can rock a bunch of different colors on the roof. I know this now. Now that I am done getting a roof.
