What?

Thursday, January 16, 2025

I was driving home from work today and I saw diggers in the pond/swamp down the street and around the corner.

What?

Why?

I stopped and looked. The diggers are sitting on the frozen pond/swamp, having evidently already dug up a bunch of dirt. I am not usually a very curious person, but I wondered what was going on with this. Are they taking the swamp away? Why? Are they cleaning up the swamp? Why?

I have no idea, but I rather like the pond/swamp. We have lots of green in the yards around here, but having a bit more actual nature-y nature is very nice. Don’t take away my pond/swamp.

Will the diggers stay there long enough to fall in? Curious minds want to know.

  1. Contact your alderperson or city hall about the project. Storm water ponds serve as both water quality improvement and water quantity management devices.
The project may be just improving the efficacy of the pond for these purposes.
The chances of the pond going away is pretty slim.
