What’s Your Picture of the day today?

Oh, God.

That’s what I said.

I was sitting at the computer, Christmas shopping! I want to get something for someone that has choices – the bane of my existence. I need all the information, fifty times over, to make a decision. It is an $11 item.

Anyway, it was sitting here, Keith said, “What’s your picture of the day today?” and I said, “Oh, God.”

We passed blog entry number 1000 while we were on the cruise, or just before, or something, so honestly, wouldn’t you think I would be used to it by now? I sure would? Don’t you make a habit after 28 days or something like that?

Nope, comes as a surprise almost every day.

The funny thing about today’s picture is that I actually went outside to take a picture for the POTD. Keith kept commenting on how pretty the smoke bush is – kinda mauve, kinda orange – indeed pretty. So, since I hadn’t taken a picture today, I went out to take its picture. On the way, I thought about how I wished it was sunny so it would show up prettier in a picture, then I thought about my poor sad murdered spikey plants. Every fall, Keith says he thinks it time to let them go and I say no, one more year. I bought $1.49 spikey plants to put in my by-the-pool pots the first spring we lived here. I had colorful flowers and a hangy-down sweet potato vine thing and a spikey plant. Everything grew okay – the spikey plant particularly. Fall came and I couldn’t just leave the spikey plants to die, so I brought them in. Every fall since Keith has hauled them in (that hauling is not so easy, but I do have little wheels to help) for the winter and they sit in the basement and make me happy if I ever go down there.

This year Keith started early talking about murdering them. He didn’t say that. He would just be out floating and say, “I think this might be the year for the spikey plants to go. They are getting so big.”

Why is big bad? Isn’t big good? But I heard his point. One pot is broken and that plant really wasn’t doing well. They do take up a lot of room. Blah blah blah…reasons…whatever…I said okay.

So today when I went out to take the picture of the smoke bush, I forgot all about it when I looked at the spikey plants. Bye spikey plants! You were very good growers!

PS The smoke bush is in the background!
