WhooooHoooooo

The shrimp was excellent, but why do they leaves the tails on? The poached egg was perfectly done. The grits were so perfectly ground, and seasoned and cooked perfectly. The bacon was just right (just right!!) and so bountiful (that is so much bacon! Is it too much bacon? No – could there really ever be too much bacon?). The breakfast potatoes were crispy, yet fluffy inside.

We were a commercial for the Ale and Compass restaurant this morning ooohing and ahhhhing over our breakfast. And that was only the plated meal part – there was a buffet of fruits and pastries and biscuits and gravy as well,

We ate a lot. A lot.

Keith wobbled back to our hotel across the lake to work and I rolled toward Epcot. Before I even got away from the hotel’s gift shop, Keith texted that our virtual queue was ready and we should meet at Epcot. OK!

The new Guardians of the Galaxy ride was absolutely terrific! You can only ride if you are in the virtual queue, which you can only do once/day (usually). If there was a regular line, I think it would be six hours long – and I might get in it. The cars have two rows and they swivel around on the track so you are seeing different part of the “show” (you are saving the universe). It was long and wonderful and I can’t wait to go again.

Keith went back to work and the rest of us enjoyed some Test Track and pickle fries and Maren went on the Living with the Land ride for the first time. It is a quiet boat ride about food and gardening, and Benjamin and Sean love it so much and hyped it up to Maren. She was excited, but also is an adult and understands it is a quiet boat ride about learning. The kids were quite puzzled as to why there had been such excitement about this ride. Fair point, I think.

When they left for the afternoon heat break, I was alone at EPCOT. There were soooooo many things I could have done. I went to the Disney vacation club lounge and had strawberry lemonade and doritos and watched people walk around EPCOT from above for a while, then I called my sister, Nancy, as I walked along back to my hotel – telling her how happy I was that I had so many things I could do, but that I was not doing any of them.

After Keith finished working, we met up again for Mollie and my destiny with a pickle shake. She was interested and I was sold when I saw how cute the cup was. It was delicious. We both voted we would have it again. We strolled around world showcase, selecting tastes from lots of booths at the Food and Wine festival. It was extended hours night for resort guests, so we got to go on Guardians of the Galaxy again. I want a shirt that says “Where is the cake toast?” because only people who have ridden will get it.

We got to ride the new (to us) Ratatouille ride! Keith was ready, wearing his Remy shirt! The ride was super cute and we did it three times, back to back, because it is in the back corner of EPCOT and too far away to get to anything else. The rest of the group headed back to the monorail home and we danced to the French music on the empty French streets. I logged 10.42 miles today, so the practice walking realllly helped!

  1. Hm.. cake toast. The other day, we had some pound cake left over from serving as a base for strawberries and ice cream, and I toasted a slice and put Nutella on it, just because. If the Guardians of the Galaxy ride is talking about anything that good, it should definitely inspire a shirt for those in the know!
