A busy Sunday

Sunday, March 22. 2026

I forgot Carla’s birthday. Friday night I wrote March 20 and thought, “Keith’s mom’s birthday is tomorrow.” Then my brain made some lumpy sounds. It banged around a little bit, not accepting the thoughts that were swirling. Mmm. LaVon on March 21. Carla on March 19. No, Carla can’t be March 19 because March 19 is over. And because I SAT NEXT TO HER AT A PLAY ON MARCH 19. Seriously!!!! I did immediately text late birthday wishes and requests for forgiveness (which she generously gave), but ack. I just typed March 22 and thought Ack. I forgot Carla’s birthday. How did I type the POTD on March 19 and not remember? The brain is a weird thing.

Keith played a chamber orchestra concert (he said the band sounded really good on the Beethoven dealie that he was excited about. Or Bach. [Keith edit: Beethoven’s 7th Symphony]) The theater next door (in the same building) was doing Frozen, hence the chamber orchestra conductor meeting Olaf during intermission.

I stayed home to pack and clean. I packed. I think. We are trying to pack light because we are moving cities several times, using public transportation, and perhaps shipping our suitcase between hotels. I think we have everything and it all fits in one checked bag – about 40 pounds. That includes an entire box of Saltines, so I can be medically nauseated, as well as 18 granola bars so I can be cautious of food that is fish or octopus in Japan.

That’s right! We are off to Japan tomorrow! I did not clean the house, but I think I might just get up early tomorrow and do that. (I really will not, but I actually think I will.)
