I shared a classroom today and when lunchtime came, the other teacher told me that there was white smoke! I am not Catholic and really don’t have much interest in it, but it was exciting nonetheless. She was avidly watching the video of the front of St. Peter’s, waiting to see the new pope while we ate. I guessed he would be from Italy and she thought from somewhere else in Europe. When it was announced he was American, I was totally surprised. I love to share news, so I wandered off to go to the office to tell my friend, Patty (she is usually in the library, but covers the office over lunch). I took a short cut through the library and there was Michelle, the media specialist. I told her instead of Patty. The priest of the church she grew up with in La Crosse is a cardinal and had been on the list, so momentarily she thought she might know the Pope! Extra exciting. It isn’t her guy. After about 10 minutes, Patty came back. I literally jumped out of Michelle’s office door, threw my hands up into the air, and yelled, “The new pope is Catholic!!!!”
I really like to share news, but apparently, I am not very good at it. “American! I meant American.”
Man, it’s good to laugh really hard at work once in a while.
Tonight, we went to Artistry in Bloomington to see Waitress. We have had tickets to Broadway touring shows TWICE that we had to miss because we were traveling – BOTH times for Waitress! What are the chances?! This was our first time actually seeing it and I LOVED it. The cast was stellar. Stellar! The four of us seem to come out every time from Artistry and say how are there people here that are that good? When the main character was singing her showstopper – about 15 feet from me – I was just letting the music fill me up with joy, just appreciating that the fact that it is just a random Thursday night and we drove a mere 30 minutes for this privilege. Just wow. We are so lucky.

There is an art gallery outside the theater, so the potd comes from our tour of the latest exhibit.
Tom and I randomly saw this show in Denver and loved it. The actress that played the daughter sat right in front of us during the first half and performed in the second half. She gladly autographed our programs and chatted with us about her love of acting. Great show made even better by this little gal.
What a delightful opportunity for you!
