It was almost a very standard morning from hotel to plane. It was all good until we were almost ready to get onto the plane.
“The entertainment system on this flight will not be available. It is not working.”
I actually didn’t panic, but I did wonder about changing to tomorrow’s flight. Are fees waived, like during a hurricane? Is no movies a compensation type of disaster? I downloaded 5 books from the library – basically the first 5 I found that weren’t for kids or part of a series.
We got to our seats and settled in. The screens were on but did nothing when touched. I was looking at my book choices when Keith said the movies were working.
Charmed life!!!
They said some were working, but it might not last. We got right to the movies. Mercy – highly recommend!!! Hamnet – quite a reduction in energy from Mercy, but so good. Midwinter Break – pretty depressing trip to Amsterdam (we did get to recognize lots of places. Sarah’s Oil – Hallmark movie vibes, but true story. Lots of hard reminders about Jim Crow and miserable treatment of people of color.
Dave O heroically waited for us (again!) while our plane waited 30 minutes for a gate, then while we waited over 30 minutes for our suitcase.
Brother Dave had open heart surgery yesterday and it went well. We are all so happy and grateful for that. He has a painful recovery now, so keep him in your thoughts.
Sister Nancy sent the potd today. It is Nancy cutting some fresh stems while picking up a CSA box. Gorgeous!

Ooooo…. The POTD looks like…. The Netherlands. Nancy would be right at home. I know why they call it “open heart surgery,” but do they ever do CLOSED heart surgery? Maybe going in from the inside with the long gizmos counts. Heal fast Dave! I second the motion on Hamnet – terrific movie… And so happy y’all are home safely again….
We actually passed a similar field of flowers in Denmark – cut your own and a place to pay! We should have stopped.
It was pretty great and confusing to wake up at home this morning
