Blogettes

I had lunch with the group that broke off from the backyard group last fall, interested in further discussions of politics and the November election. Everyone, but me, really put in time and effort toward Kamala winning. I joined the group to learn, and I have learned so much. I really, really enjoy everyone in the group. After the election, the group kept meeting. First, we licked our wounds together, then started looking toward the future, and try to support one another as each day we suffer hearing about the reality of the United States right now.

We were meeting at the community room at a grocery store, as fall is not nice for outside meetings. Our leader, Jean, found out the room is for “community groups”, such as book clubs, so she was worried we didn’t qualify. She called us the Backyard Book Club and asked everyone to bring a book to share. She is very orderly and follows the rules. I do love following rules. I never bring a book, because I would never take a book to a book club meeting. I read it; I can keep up with the discussion. Each time we meet, people bring amazing books to share – nonfiction learning, philosophy to help deal with our times, books they studied in college that they are rereading from an older person’s perspective. I just read The Gown about the making of Queen Elizabeth’s wedding dress and The Happy Ever After Playlist. I did not bring them along. I think the place would consider us a community group without our books, but I also think perhaps we should all read a book and talk about it. I bet it would be an amazing discussion.

Jean and I mentioned something about the blog today, because Jean is a reader. Others wanted to know how to read it, so that was shared. As our meeting left, we all went outside and stood in the hot sun for another 20 minutes. The long good-bye! My favorite! They decided they would be blog fans and named themselves the blogettes.

I am afraid their expectations might be a little high.

Keith was gone tonight at a rehearsal, and I did ten boxes! You can’t tell, but I did.
