Burnt Chicken

Alexander heard of a new restaurant near his office called Burnt Chicken. He suggested we dinner there, so we did. Keith had a catfish po’boy, I had a shrimp po’boy, and Alexander had a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. We all enjoyed – but mine might have been the best (as voted by everyone). The waitress was very friendly and she tricked us all into ordering side dishes. I noticed that the sandwiches did not include fries (or anything), so I checked out the sides. Fries were $4, mac and cheese $6, candied yams $6 and other stuff was other prices but they weren’t the things I was thinking of ordering, so I do not remember them. I decided I would have either no side (probably not) or candied yams. I knew Keith would have mac and cheese. Anyway, the waitress took our sandwich order and then asked if we wanted regular fries or Cajun fries with that. I thought oh, good, it comes with fries. I will just go with that. Keith asked if he could upgrade to mac and cheese. She said yes. Alexander went with fries. When the bill came, all of those sides were the menu price for sides. She did not say they were included – she just asked if I wanted fries. Tricky. Keith’s question was a little suspect. He asked to upgrade. He was not upgrading, he was ordering. She definitely crossed the line there. We wanted what we ordered and ate it all, so no quibbles, but…not my favorite.

When we left, Alexander commented on the tiny space between the buildings. I looked and commented on how cute it was. He said, “Let’s Go!”, and then we didn’t hesitate – the down the skinny alley we went. We were very happy sneaking along the tiny space.

At Alexander’s house, we played with adorable kitties. I brushed Sophie and got off enough for two more cats. We looked at new items Alexander has been making for the national LARP event in September. Everything is so cool.
