Hey! It’s July! That came as a surprise when I just looked at the date. Happy July.
Mississippi River Brass Band had its second concert tonight, this time at the Como Park Pavillion. Originally the weather report was for mid-90s with likelihood of thunderstorms. Instead, we had a breezy 80 and sunshine. Win.
I got to sit with Dan’s family – including his absolutely adorable granddaughters. The middle one has been to concerts before and kept her ears covered whenever the band played but instantly started clapping when the tunes finished. When Dan played a solo, the tiny voices cheering on Grampa (or whatever version of that came from a 4-year-old, almost 3-year-old, and 18-month-old) were the absolute best!

Alexander said he would be a little late. I texted him and he responded that he was there, wandering around the perimeter of the pavillion. I said if he came to the backside by the lake, I would wave at him. We were at a table right at the back of the audience. (The sound there was GREAT) For no reason whatsoever, I decided he must be coming from my right. I jumped a mile when I finally turned by head and he was just standing right below me waving.

He came up and joined us.

At the end of the concert, he had an idea. I said his dad would be all in. He went to Keith and said, “I have an idea.” Keith responded, “Does it involve ice cream?” It did!
Dan, Stacy, Keith, Alexander, and I went to the St. Paul Nelson’s. Alexander was disappointed he hadn’t brought Tupperware, as we learned from our recent Stillwater trip.

There’s a Nelson’s in St. Paul?????? What a GREAT idea! Who knew? (Probably just not me…)
There is! We discovered it a few years ago after visiting an escape room in the neighborhood. The guys said let’s go to Nelson and we thought Stillwater. Turned out we could walk! It is on Snelling.
