He said it couldn’t be done

I decided we should clean up the garage today. We have not done anything about half of it being filled with boxes since we dragged the last bits of stuff over from next door in May. Winter is coming (what??) and sooner than that, the motorcycle men. David and Michael are going to ride up on Friday for a weekend visit. Keith pointed out that the easiest way to fit two motorcycles into the garage would be to back out a car. I said I was home today and tomorrow to help, and we would get it done. He said it could not be done before they came Friday evening. (I didn’t take that “before potd” before. He had been at it for a while before it occurred to me to take a picture.)

He was wrong.

He did the vast majority of the work, and I puttered around taking things into the house and making organizational suggestions (What are you doing? Why are you putting that there? What are you thinking?) (I was helping).

  1. Last fall we tackled the ugly job of cleaning the garage to make all walls and corners accessible for mouse-proofing. We’d postponed this odious task for years (maybe why we needed mouse -proofing?), but the day had come.
The experience was actually kind of joyful! Usually when we clean, the process is “Toss, save, recycle.” In the garage, the process was simplified: “Find a spot for it, or throw it out.” No middle ground.
And now we are anticipating a mouse-free as we enjoy a pretty clean garage. Win-win.
