I read an article today about a kid who graduated from high school and his mom asked him to write to his aunts and uncles (it didn’t say if it was invitations to a party or perhaps thank you notes). He did it and returned the envelopes to his mom with Aunt Barbara and Uncle Keith filling the entire front of the envelope. It occurred to Mom at that point that he had never sent anything in the mail before.

Huh. Has he never seen mail? There were some numbers – like 37% of people have received a personal letter in the past five years and 14% have written one. l knew I was ahead of the curve, because I know Jerry likes letters and I do write to him and Barbara now and again. I decided I would write a letter to them in the mail soon. Then JUST NOW, as we got home from brass band at 11pm, I said I had not taken a single picture today. Keith went off to get the mail – which he does every day – and came back with a personal letter for me! From Jerry and Barbara! So exciting that I took a picture! 🙂
