Alexander asked us to join him for lunch and a trip to Ax-Man. We said sure!
We had lunch at Master Noodle or Magic Noodle. The sign outside says Master Noodle, but the website is Magic Noodle and the employees had Magic Noodle shirts on. Seems it was Magic Noodle and is now Master Noodle….? They feature hand pulled noodles and sure enough, we could see the guy in the kitchen making the noodles. Fun! My Mongolian beef was terrific, but Keith’s garlic chicken won the day.
Alexander needed some springs and ball bearings for something he is creating, so we traveled the two blocks to Ax-Man. Ax-Man is a surplus store where you can find really strange things. I saw the box that said Spives and had no idea what to expect. Duhhhhh! Spives!
Alexander couldn’t find ball bearings in their usual spot, so he asked. The worker guy said Alexander had just missed the 45 year window of availability – they don’t carry them anymore. Huh.
It’s weird to think about something that was available in the same spot for Alexander’s entire life and now it’s not.
Isn’t it? I wasn’t there when he asked, but I might have thought to ask why. Curious
We used to love going to ax man. You can always find something you don’t need or didn’t know you needed!
