Sold one and paid the other off

We met Maren and Rob (who showed up with a check rather than a briefcase of money, much to my and Rob’s disappointment) (the banker asked if they were buying a house and offered congratulations. Rob said he wanted to answer that they were helping out a friend from Nigeria who needed American money fast…but was afraid a hold would be put on everything) at the Title company at noon. We were actually slowed down because of construction traffic and I texted Maren to say so. She texted back “There are sodas and candy, and cookies, and pens!” We partook of all of the offerings – delightful.

Back home we went next door and offered the new neighbors a delightful plate of garage door openers as a welcome present.

I was gathering laundry and saw the light on under the hall bathroom door. Door opened and Benjin walked out. I was totally surprised (and therefore made squeeky sounds). He said, “You told me to come!”

Fact. But still. Where did he come from? Why are the people in my house so stealth?

We met Alexander at the bank and they each got a prize for coming.

The banker took 90 minutes to get the trust checking account open, even though the guy from Saturday said he set everything up (in the 75 minutes we were there then). Alexander was a little concerned that he now might have responsibilities with the trust, but Benjamin and I just chatted away about this and that. We used the money to pay off our very temporary loan for our house and Keith was delighted and relieved to get everything DONE.

I used the bank restroom on the way out and it had a very exciting feature. I came out and said to Benjamin, “Go use the restroom.” He turned and went inside. Alexander said, “I am not going in to use the restroom. Just tell me what is up.” I asked Keith, “How cool was that peephole in the bathroom?” He had used the restroom earlier. He had not noticed the peephole in the door. It was about an inch and a quarter and gave a view of the whole vestibule. I assumed it was for safety, in case the bank was being robbed. You would be able to see both doors and whatever. I found it very exciting. Benjamin returned and found it very exciting.

Since Benjamin drove all the way up to do banking for us with very little notice, we gave him dinner choosing rights. He chose Little Caesar’s. My crazy bread was raw, which was entirely disappointing. We sat around together and reminisced about living next door. And other things. And mostly other things (partly because Alexander lived there for 9 months and Benjamin never did).

No boxes were unpacked today.

  1. Rah – and the prize for yesterday is that you now have NEIGHBORS – who you WANT to have as neighbors! What a deal….
