That was a good fish fry

We took the Borealis train to Columbus, Wisconsin. The Borealis is the “new” train from St. Paul to Chicago (and back). It is pretty much on time every day – from noonish to 5ish (to Milwaukee). The Empire builder – coming from Seattle – is often many hours late. So, it was today.

Nancy picked us up and zoomed us to Pewaukee to the 5 O’Clock Club for an anniversary year outing. It is so reminiscent of the fish fry places we went to when we were kids. When I asked the waitress what kind of diet soda they had she said diet Coke and diet white soda. I swear I thought of the term white soda (so lemon lime flavors) yesterday – and not previously for over 20 or 30 or 40 years. Keith did not grow up with that terminology and had a moment of confusion.

Nancy wore the new shirt we got her for Christmas. She said the official color of it is brick. I said brick was much darker. She said no. I took a picture of Keith and Nancy, then realized it was a picture of the ketchup, Keith, and Nancy. I moved the ketchup back and realized Nancy’s shirt is ketchup bottle colored. Perfect. Notice how Ketchup jumped into my picture of the great glasses? He was definitely part of our party.

  1. Ooh, the 5 o’clock club! We’ve been there, and that is definitely one fine fish fry! We didn’t find out about white soda, though. Gotta love “Milwaukee talk.”

  2. Nancy,
How does 5 O’clock Club fish fry different from Brandybrook? Are they too different to compare?

We went to “5” many years ago and I didn’t care for it. I’m kind of a fussy eater though.
