The Funniest Wedding I’ve Been to

It was Rachel’s wedding today! Huzzah! It was beautiful and it was funny. Each of the four people who did readings gave a little speech talking about how they knew Tyler or Rachel and each speech was funnier than the last. I absolutely loved it. The wedding had a Lord of the Rings theme. Tyler was Samwise and wore a stunning green suit that he plans to wear often in his future. Rachel was his bride Rosie who rented her dress since she doesn’t plan to wear it again. That backwards of the norm plan was perfect for them. Each of the wedding party was given a character and freedom to dress as they saw fit. Everyone did a wonderful job. Benjamin represented Elron in his silver shirt and burgundy jacket. He brought swords for everyone who needed a sword and the entire Fellowship had cloaks for after the wedding. Mike arranged LOTR music for the processional. It is some of my favorite music, so it was so nice to hear it.

The reception was really nice. The food was wonderful and the cupcakes were terrific. There were good sandwich fixin’s later in the evening. The Dean’s List big band played – Keith and I danced and everything. Keith sat in for a bit of the second and third sets with the band because they asked him too. I said last year after a few weddings that the secret to a good wedding is good friends – they are thrilled for the bride and groom, they are not old and tired, they dance and they stay and they laugh and tell stories. This was that kind of reception. Yay!
