Tokyo

We are in our awesome hotel, on the 15th floor overlooking a park on the roof of a shopping area. Keith is staring out the window trying to figure out which way the ocean is so he knows where to look for Godzilla coming. He is making a plan!

Our train ride from Kanazawa was uneventful until we tried to leave the train station. Mike went out. Kristine went out. I ever so casually and confidently tried to go through the out but the gates closed and a red x came up and I was stuck. Luckily, Keith was behind me. He tried his ticket and the same thing happened. It is so good to be stuck with a friend. After talking to the lady at the window she let us leave through an in-gate. Apparently the machine way undercharged us for our ticket and the gate noticed. She did not have any idea how it happened or how to fix it so we just got to go. When we got to Mike and Kristine she said hers also went red but she just squeezed out. I didn’t think of that.

I thought we had been in big towns but now that we’re in Tokyo I know they were just little. We are staying just a block away from the famously busy pedestrian street crossing. We watched it from up high, then went down and got in the crowd.

We ended up in the mall food court for our meal of the day. Keith, Mike and I had Korean fried (Yamnyom) chicken in a spicy sauce that was delicious. Kristine had bibimbap. It was also delicious.

The lights had screens on them. Amazing.

We walked to a nearby park and enjoyed watching the locals enjoy the cherry blossoms! People were all over picnicking as a few of the blossoms floated on the breezy air. Cherry blossoms don’t last very long, and people certainly come out to enjoy them.

It was a big park and we walked all around. I particularly enjoyed the dog park part. We thought the fluffy brown dog looked like a beaver. Kristine thought he was silly.

We enjoyed the city lights as we walked back. We have a seat in our window where we can sit and look at the view. I thought it was great in the daytime, but the night lights are fantastic.

Some of those extra pictures need more explanation, others, not so much !

  2. I try to be open-minded, but I don’t think I WANT to know more about the Pork uterus….

There are a bunch of signs about Edo period reconstruction – they are probably talking about Godzilla
