There was a place in the Maplewood Mall called Da Bin (Daa Bin?) It was closed on Wednesday for restocking, then everything was $10 on Thursday with pricing dropping to $1 on Tuesday. On a Tuesday before Christmas, Alexander went and got us each a ridiculous item. I totally surprised him by telling him I knew exactly what to do with my construction themed decorations. The middle school I hang out at the most often is under construction this year, and the theme of the building is Constructing the Future (or something). One of the teachers I sub for as often as I can has quite a few construction decorations in her room. I knew I would be working for her this week, and I would add festiveness to her room.
I had to stand on the tables to get them up there. I was terrified. Not only was I very high up, quite sure I was going to just fall to the ground and break parts of me, I was quite concerned about having to explain my extremely poor decision to climb up on a table. Surprisingly and luckily, it went off without incident.
I look forward to the teacher returning on Monday. Maybe she won’t notice.
There are bonus swirly papers that don’t have construction things on the end. I look forward to figuring out what to do with them.
Keith had a rehearsal in Eagan at 5pm today. We had theater tickets and it did not seem possible for him to come home for me between rehearsal and show, so I planned to go along. The thing is, I have been taking TERRIFIC naps this week of working. I do not wake up easily or quickly, so I had a brilliant idea. I came home from school, grabbed the things I would need for the evening, and went to sleep in the car. Keith came out a bit more than an hour later and drove me away. I was awake then, but still cozy and warm in my seat with my blanket. By the time the 30 minute drive was done, I was ready to be awake. It was perfect.

We went to the History Theater to see Hungry Like the Wolf. It was hilarious. I laughed out loud so many times. It was about misogyny and wage inequality and the general crap that women have had to deal with forever. Obviously, a comedy. There was a darker thread through the second act I question – yes, it is a serious subject, but it was going well as a comedy, so I’m not sure about that darkness. I had so so so many thoughts. I think I should volunteer my services to the playwrights that create new shows there as an early editor. I see a lot of shows. I have thoughts. I would be willing to share. I will put that on my to-do list.
