We don’t always eat

We don’t always eat; sometimes we talk about food; sometimes we look at food.

It was a pretty great day – Mom and Dad and the kids out for a day. We went to Alexander’s favorite Thai restaurant (The King’s in Spring Lake Park). I had drunken noodles that were just great. I mentioned it forty or fifty times while eating it. We shared an appetizer of heavenly beef. The menu said it was deep fried beef jerky, but we all assumed something had gotten lost in translation. It hadn’t. It was deep fried beef jerky and it was wonderful. Alexander got the most beautiful lemon slice with his meal. He doesn’t like savory lemon, so he set it aside. I absolutely had to eat it at the end of the meal; I couldn’t resist. It was so delicious – face squeezy to be sure, but so so so delicious.

Grampa Joe’s candy and soda store was our next stop. It used to be Blue Sun soda, but it changed hands. There are fewer sodas (only hundreds of kinds) and more candy and a soda fountain now. They really had a solid collection of brands of candy you haven’t seen forever and things you’ve never heard of. I enjoyed looking so much. They had some delicious sounding soda and some beyond gross sounding soda. Benjamin stocked up on a few different root beers.

Our next stop was at Krispie Kreme. It was right between us and the highway. We had a 30 minute or so wait. No one was actually hungry after our delicious lunch, but doughnuts! We got an extra dozen for the neighbors, but they were not home, so we … ate them. There are actually still a few left, but bringing over just a few seemed lame.

Next we took a look at the Golden nut and candy shop. It is a Turkish store and the things there look and smell wonderful.

Again, we were reaaallllly too full to have anything, until Keith got so curious about some cheese stuff (kunafa) they were cooking. The woman gave him a nice sample, and he brought some home. It will be for tomorrow.

We made it home at dinner time and slept instead of eating more. Keith took a serious nap in the bed and came out to the three of us conked out on the blue chairs.

Great. Day.
