We’re in Denmark

The best part of breakfast was the hagelslag I found. Hagelslag is a Dutch word for chocolate sprinkles, which the people around there put on buttered bread. I just took the sprinkles because they are so incredibly cute in their tiny little box.

We said goodbye to everyone heading back to the hot hot hot temperatures at home. Jerry won for most able to carry all his own luggage.

We went to the airport lounge for an hour and indulged. Keith had pancakes and something else from the real food area, then found the ice cream.

I had the good stuff – stuff you scoop out of jars with little spoons. Spicy nuts, black licorice, and FOAM BANANAS! Bwahahahaha!

New clock at the airport. Not as good as the guy painting the hands, but still good.

We have come to Billund, Denmark, to see the home of Lego, and yet when this Lego Dinosaur welcomed me, I was surprised. Huh.

The town has about 7,000 residents. I could not fathom how many cars were parked outside of the airport, just on the side we were walking.

We rented our car easily, then Agnes from the desk walked us to our car and told us all the things. Did you read that? Walked us to our car. Told us everything about gas stations and parking apps and whether it is worth going to the place to put your feet in the North Sea and Baltic Sea at the same time. It was truly amazing. Talk about customer service!

It was only about 10 minutes to our GoSleep place. We got a code to punch into our door. No one works here; it is just rooms. It’s nice. There is no air conditioning, because we are in Denmark and it is NOT hot here. Except for today. Today it is 82. That is not super hot, but kind of. It is cooling quickly as the sun is going down (it’s 10:47pm and the sun is thinking about setting) and it should be great for sleeping.

Denmark is in the EU, but doesn’t use euro. We got some Danish Krone for just in case. I read that everything is cashless, but you just never know. We can always buy Legos with cash if we have to. We went to the grocery store and bought some sodas for a lot of money. It seems Denmark is an expensive place to live/visit. The rest of our trip was pretty reasonable (except for restaurant beverages – $10 for water, $5 for a tiny soft drink), so we will just go with it.

We took out chicken nachos from the Pizza/Kebab place by the highway in Vandel (close to Billund). That sounds like this might be an actual town, but it is really tiny. The Pizza/Kebab, tiny grocery store, and hamburger joint by the two lane highway are all there is besides some houses. It is pretty fun.

Somebody left themselves logged into Danish Netflix in our room’s TV, so we watched the Brett Goldstein movie Office Romance and enjoyed it thoroughly.

We know he checked it on the way there – assume so on the way back. He couldn’t check the hard case – over the weight limit. He added extra padding and had a nice big note saying Tuba musical instrument. Please take care. THANK YOU
