I worked at elementary school field day today, helping to run the tug of war. I had no idea tug of war was still a thing. I thought it got banned when safety was invented. It was the best place to be! It was great fun, especially when we invited the watching parents to join in for the last round. I loved watching the parents’ faces when they realized how hard it was and how hard the kids were pulling.
We went to see Joan of Arc at Open Window Theater tonight and I was absolutely blown away. The show was long – 7:30 – 11pm! – but my interest didn’t waver at all. Jeremy Stanbury, who runs that theater, wrote the show. I kept thinking that while it was going on – a local guy wrote this! I thought it was marvelous. Believe it or not, there was a lot of laughing along with Joan helping the French win the 100 years war. The cast was absolutely brilliant. Joan had high school credits from New Life in Woodbury, so maybe she lives down the street.
Today is our friends Jerry and Barbara’s 50th anniversary. They are having a grand adventure in Scotland to celebrate. Jerry sent a message and pictures this week and talked about their dinner plans for tonight. He ended with “if it stinks, it won’t matter. We’ll still have been married for fifty years. It’s the same as with forty years – it’s a good start. CHEERS to you, Jerry and Barbara. It is, indeed, a good start!

Just sayin’….. The dinner was over the top wonderful, and this morning our B&B hosts and the other guests serenaded us. Keith and I really were fortunate to find the perfect partners for life. Why anybody with otherwise fabulous taste would pick tuba and trumpet players is beyond my understanding, but we’ll take it – right, Keith???
Yeah, you’ve definitely got a mystery on your hands there, but you’re right that we both won big.
Thank you so much for the anniversary wishes!
I saw your anniversary party post before I saw this one. All the pictures of friends–what a perfect way to show what a great party it was! Best wishes to you on *your* good start. 🙂
Thank you, Barbara ♥️
