Back home again

We should be home from our wonderful trip to the UK and back to our regular lives. I had a mammogram today and thought I would take a picture for those of you who have never had the pleasure. I don’t find it awful, except when they say, “hold your breath,” and you just exhaled. Breath? What breath?

Keith took me because he isn’t interested in me driving around with only one good eye and I am so willing to be pampered. We needed to go grocery shopping anyway, so it was just a stop along the way. On our along-the-way, he suggested we go to Hazelwood for lunch because it is Monday and Monday is smoked Gouda potato soup day. He didn’t have to twist my arm. He had an amazing Blackberry Brie burger (brie curds and blackberry jam?) and a cup of soup. I said I would just have a taste of his upgrade-fries-for-soup cup. I ordered a chicken sandwich with all sorts of stuff on it for fancy, but I now know the correct play is just a bowl of the soup. It was better than I remembered it, because I had talked myself out of thinking that it could have been that good.

We very successfully grocery shopped at Cub. We unpacked – and by that we I mean Keith because I was texting with Maren. Then we went back to the doctor’s office to have blood drawn for my A1c – 3 month diabetes check in. I was supposed to have it done Nov 3, but ended up at the retina doctor instead. I got in the giving-blood chair and the tech had no orders from the doctor. She sent a message, waited, got a hold-on-a-second message back, then said she wasn’t going to send orders. Gvvvvd. What? Why? It is a new doctor to me, but my history is all at this clinic. I was supposed to have done it three weeks ago. Oh, well. I will wait another three weeks until my check in with her Dec 16 (earliest reschedule after Nov. 3). We stopped at Kohl’s to return a thing and the nurse called back and said whoops, you can come back if you want to, the order is there. I wanted to, so that is taken care of.

Tonight, we went to see Phantom of the Opera. We have never seen it before because Keith doesn’t like the music. Tonight he kept saying that it is good music, just repetitive. All previous opportunities over the past 40 years he has not liked the music. He admitted the costumes and sets and singers were terrific tonight. I loved it. I have seen the movie, but this was way better. Everyone seemed very dressed up. We were wearing jeans and T-shirts. Next time I am going to notice we are going somewhere before we actually go and do better. Next time is tomorrow. I wonder how I will do.

This is Sophie in her new blanket. She is adorable.
