Cabaret night

Today was a hilariously sleepy day. I was awake from 2:30 – 5:15am. I finally got up and got my audiobook and it put me right to sleep. I woke up at 7:30am just in time to hear the end of my murder trial book – it was SO grim! The main character was recapping the whole story, so I got everything and am happy to not have listened much – tooooo grim at the end. Keith was getting up for rehearsal in River Falls at 9:00. We chatted a bit, then he went to shower. I fell asleep and woke up at NOON when he was back and standing next to the bed. Wow. He went for a nap and I got up. For three hours. Then had a nap.

We were both up and wide awake in time to go to the show at the Phipps. Carla and Marge were there and we all enjoyed a cabaret show of funny songs. It was an interesting twist on the genre – understandable why they would go for something different – but funny songs seem to fall into the category of ditties and are pretty obscure. Keith and I knew Let’s Do It (Cole Porter), Poisoning Pigeons in the Park (Tom Lehrer), and Peter Gunn (TV theme) and nothing else. It’s nice to have something you know a little more often. The POTD is the second picture Keith took – when the guy behind us tried to save our picture by ducking out. I think he made the picture.

  1. I never saw Peter Gunn, (didn’t even know Gunn was spelled with two n’s) but my uncle Marty used to play the theme on the piano. We had so much fun together. Thank you for the reminder.

I was thinking afterward that I have never seen Peter Gunn – no idea what it was about! – assumed spies, because it sounds like spy music. I looked it up – kinda spies! Happy you have happy memories 🙂
