We asked for help in buying train tickets from Paris to Disneyland. We knew where we were going, but couldn’t find the right machine. The official train website said for a single ticket we didn’t need to buy a train card and we could buy from the blue machines by the escalator. There were green machines sort of by the escalator that would sell you a train card…We finally queued up for help. The agent did not look up after we approached the window. He was writing on a form. We waited. Nothing happened. Finally, he may have said, “yeah?” Keith said he needed help buying a ticket to Disneyland. Agent said nothing. Keith started explaining about not needing a card.. and the guy said, “Walk away.” We froze. We have an Italian history of having transportation conversations ending unsatisfactorily. Keith repeated, “Walk away? Did you say walk away?” Nothing happened. I jumped in and said loudly, “We need a ticket to Disneyland.” He looked up. “One?” “One each, total of two.” He started typing on his computer. 2€ for a train card, 2,55€ for a ride. He said, “walk away again” and as Keith was repeating walk away suddenly I heard it! One way! Yes!!
Apparently, the website is entirely wrong. The green machines will sell you a now-required train card and ticket. 9,10€ got us a 45-minute train ride to Disneyland. And two reusable train cards.
We are staying at the Santa Fe hotel. The parking lot in front looks like a drive-in movie theater. So cute! It was originally a Route 66 hotel, but got a CARS overlay about 15 years ago. Keith was dressed appropriately for our arrival.

We walked through the beautiful Disneyland hotel and we were in Disneyland!

We are here for five days, so we have no need to hurry about anything. We moseyed over to Frontierland and visited Phantom Manor (the Haunted Mansion). I love the word phantom, so I am all about this place. We took the sidewheeler boat around the river. There is nothing better than cruising around Big Thunder island.

We had an order of loaded Doritos, since Doritos were invented at the original Disneyland. While we waited, I found a menu ad for the Coco restaurant, which is currently closed. That is the cutest dessert EVER!!

It rained a bunch of times – so lightly we didn’t even care – but it actually rained a couple of times, too. It was chilly. I wore both my sweatshirts and my Boo headband for warmth. I needed them all. We rode lots of rides and shopped it up a bit – all good times!

I love this lady’s hair. I want this hair. Maren says we can do it. She has lots of colors already at her house. Be ready!

These two are Benjamin’s crabby guys. There they were – hanging out together!

We had dinner at Captain Jack’s – the restaurant on the edge of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. We had a very interesting Caribbean meal even if we were the farthest table from the ride – and could not tell there was a ride from where we were, against the back wall. I absolutely love the Paris version of Pirates!

One of the first things I did this morning was to try to fall down the stairs. My one-eyed sight gives me trouble in new spaces with depth perception. I thought I was down and yet there was one more step. I did a tumble. I tried my best not to wreck my ankle ten minutes before we left for Disneyland – and I was pretty successful! Unfortunately, I hurt my lower back. Not a big deal, but enough to require Ibuprofen and whining. We left the park before it closed so I could collapse. The park closed at 10:40. four minutes ago. I can hear the fireworks we are missing.
Sigh.

“Walk away” vs “One way” made us chuckle. That’s basically life with Tom when his hearing aids need adjustment. 🤣
Enjoy! Hope the back feels better!
You kept me safe through how many places and I crash as soon as you leave 🤦♀️ I was all better this morning – very glad!
Through plexiglass, not looking or caring is about the same as bad hearing aids!
You give us such a great idea of how each Disney park has its own ambience. (I started to say “its own character,” but obviously that wouldn’t do.) I hope the ibuprofen and a night’s rest fixes your back!
My back was recovered this morning! I was sooooo glad.
Indeed! We have drawing a lot of comparisons to WDW and Tokyo.
