Today is the 7th anniversary of my mom passing away. Hi Mom. We are thinking of you today.

Keith and I went to get new driver’s licenses today. We went to the new Department of Vehicle Safety building. OoOoOoOoO

There was a sign on the door that we should expect longer than usual wait times due to reduced staff. I heard someone ask if people were not coming to work because of ICE, but the woman (county executive) said it was just that they had not very many staff. Mmm. Why? That wasn’t part of the conversation, and I didn’t want to ask.

So, the new building is way bigger than the old building, but the get-your-license/passport/tabs-part didn’t really seem bigger than in the old building. There was a lot of room to wait, but not a lot of chairs. Some chairs. Some pretty comfortable chairs. Quite a bit of space to sit on an uncomfortable ledge. I think they could add 30 folding chairs and improve the whole thing.

While we were still waiting the KARE11 news people came to interview the woman we had been eavesdropping on. They interviewed her about what Washington Co was doing about ICE. I heard her confirm that two people had been snatched from their cars locally today. I’ve seen too many videos of the domestic terrorists of ICE. We got called in to the closer waiting area while they were filming, so we definitely walked behind her and were on TV tonight. Woohoo. We waited 2 hours, but we got it done quickly after we got called.

We went upstairs to vote for a special election to fill a seat vacated by a house member who moved up to the senate because the old senator broke into her stepmother’s house to steal her father’s ashes and some other stuff and she isn’t a senator anymore. Anyway, there was a primary and all and she is the only one on the ballot, but there is a registered write in candidate, so given the hell that is politics right now, we wanted to be sure to cast our vote to the real candidate. That may have made sense, or not. Two people came in after we did to vote and the workers were delighted because they said no one had come all day and now it was bustling. I suppose voting for one unopposed person isn’t too exciting. They said I won best handwriting on my registration, but I guess I only had Keith as competition, so not exactly a big win.
