Hello Pig’s Eye

Monday, June 21, 2026

We took the boat ride today with Mark and Sue. It was just a stunningly beautiful day. They had never been down to Harriet Island/Paddleford boats and it was a great introduction.

Pig’s Eye is St. Paul’s original name. I learned that the first time I boated around these parts. It got renamed after the local church when the town wanted to become the capital. It seems like a good decision…but I bet every kid in the United States would know the capital of Minnesota if it was still Pig’s Eye.

There was a partially naked woman on the boat. She was wearing sort of a skirt – really just little more than a ruffle around her waist – and nothing underneath it. It was quite astounding when I first saw her. She and her companion who was wearing sort of a shirt posed for a lot of pictures for their male companion. I was glad none of the kids on the boat were mine. I was happy when they stopped standing in front of us and went to the other side of the boat.

Yes. I took a picture. It happened.
