A couple weeks ago I asked Keith what we should have for the 4th of July party, then immediately said, “Hot dogs! We should have Chicago dogs and chili dogs and whatever you want dogs.”
So we did.

We also had a bazillion other things. Like, wow! That is a lot of food! So good.

You know your party is awesome when you realize you have a Bugle ring.

We went swimming next door. The neighbors were gone. Shhhh.

We mostly hung out in the new house, which was so much cooler than the outside. It is also really different than the old house. We started getting it figured out for a party. There was a little backyard activity.

We had a cake for Rick, who is retiring at the end of August. We wrote on it with cut up strawberries, because the topping was whipped cream instead of frosting. “No Work” is shorter than “Retirement” and that matters when you are cutting out letters.

My sister, Donna, and Michael came to the party. We got hamburger and round buns so she could have a burger, because she does not like hot dogs. She said no no no, no extra work for me – there is enough to eat without a hamburger (there was). Then I turn around and she is dressing a Chicago hot dog. Mmm? Then she sat down and ate it. All of it. She thought it was pretty good. She thought maybe she had never had a hot dog. She really, really hates the smell of cooking a hot dog in water – dog water is the worst smell ever – so perhaps she just extrapolated her hate of hot dogs. I thought it was mind boggling.

Everyone came, even Peter and Sue who left camping two days early just to be with us!

Keith was there too, but I didn’t take a picture of him.

Joey Chestnut won the 2025 Coney Island 4th of July hotdog eating contest by downing 70.5 hotdogs with buns in 10 minutes. Second place finisher only downed 46.5.
Next year you can hold a similar competition!
We ate 41 with about 30 people. We seriously need to up our game
