I had my first idea

Our whole family woke up at Benjin’s house – which is good because that is where we all went to sleep. It was winding to beat the band. Garbage cans were everywhere in the street. Big day of wind before BIG snow is coming Sunday. We were all snug as bugs. I tried to tempt Alexander into just turning around and driving home with the rest of us this afternoon, but his commitment to commitment won out and he decided to continue on to LARPing in Illinois. We had dinner reservations to get to, so we left before he did. He said it was fine – he lived there now.

Benjin recently ordered some cubic zirconia from the internet because…um…because probably for a reason, or not. Anyway, they feel so good when you hold them – a perfect heft – so Alexander and I were passing them back and forth before putting them in a sun puddle for sparkles. There is nothing Alexander and I like more than sparkles. Benjin got a new passport in the mail yesterday (six days from renewal button pushed to it landing in his mailbox. What the actual heck? How is that possible? How is getting anything done by the government possible?) so we put the diamonds by the passport in case any investigations happen while everyone is gone. It will definitely look like a heist. We love a heist!

As we went out to the car, I saw Benjin’s new pinata. His friend, Elizabeth, made him a pinata of his dance game machine. Elizabeth is very creative and skilled and cool. I think she has ideas all the time.

Benjamin and I rode together to Chippewa Falls, while the Daddy drove himself. We talked of many things – must do Disney restaurants, who would fill your vacation cabin, why doesn’t Disney World stop building hotels and focus on giving people more to do – and the miles flew by. We have long lamented that Disney has removed many, many of the attractions that made it a step above other theme parks. Shows and attractions that were not three minutes rides: the 45-minute Universe of Energy, the Backlot Tour, Lights, Motors, Action for example. Not only were those things you could not do anywhere else, they took huge groups of people and kept them busy for at least an hour. We talked about what they could do to create more “event” attractions and I had an IDEA. I do not have ideas. I steal ideas. I finesse other people’s ideas. This might be my first idea. We stopped going to the Little Mermaid show years ago because there were SO MANY PEOPLE holding up their phones that the extra light ruined the black light show presentation (and it was irritating as hell to try to look over all those shining screens). MY IDEA is that Disney says NO CAMERAS – if you want a recording of this show click this QR code and download a professional recording of this show. There could be a standing only spot behind the yellow railing in the back for the people who just can’t let it go. I am going to write to Josh the Parks guy and tell him to do it. Do it for all the shows – make more shows – keep people busy!!

We got to the Wissota High Shores only 5 minutes late for our reservation, and the Daddy was already seated. Benjamin had never heard of the High Shores before I lured him to dinner with the promise of yumminess. We sat down and Keith announced the good news: “Green fluff is back!!!” We do not know what is in green fluff, but Keith loves it. Once a staple, it has been gone for a LONG time. I had the filet and it was glorious. Benjamin had three bowls of soup and a salad and green fluff over chocolate pudding, as well as prime rib pasta.

Benjamin is sleeping at Alexander’s house tonight to keep the kitties company. He is so nice. He sent a picture of Sophie sitting on a box, so all is right over there.

  1. Perfect family weekend! Hoping that Alexander makes it home safely…. And that the kitties enjoy “the other brother….” High Shores forever….
