Keith spent the morning fixing a plumbing issue at his sister’s house. We drove to Waukesha to visit sisters for a pizza supper about 5:00. Donna and Michael brought ice cream that Nancy wanted. We were not shy about giving it a try before the pizza arrived.

After dinner, the men were talking about projects at Benjamin’s house and Donna, Nancy, and I were playing cards.

Donna asked Nancy, “Did you tell her about yesterday? In the bathroom?” They visited the new Obama presidential library in Chicago yesterday. It looks beautiful. I look forward to visiting.
Nancy didn’t remember a story about a bathroom yesterday. That started Donna laughing. Nancy remembered and laughed about having forgotten. She told me the story.
“So the place is really nice and new and the bathroom stalls go all the way to the floor and have nice turn-y things to put up a red (occupied) circle out when you are inside. I turned the thing, but it didn’t click, so I was standing there wiggling it a little to see if it would snap into pace.”
Donna jumped in. “I was first in line waiting. A large, black woman came into the bathroom, walked past the line, and went right to Nancy’s stall door and opened it.” They both started laughing at this point. Donna continued with a recreation of the woman’s response to seeing Nancy standing inside. She threw her hands in the air and said, “That’s an ole meemaw in there,” before stalking off.
We dissolved into hysterics. Donna said she should have told the woman, “That’s no meemaw, that’s the Widda Schunk.” That made me laugh so much my stomach muscles complained.
We just kept saying meemaw and laughing the rest of the night.
