My friend, Peter Wickert

Saturday, August 29, 2026

Keith got a message from Sue this morning that Peter passed away yesterday from a brain bleed. To say that we were shocked doesn’t even come close. When Keith told me, I don’t think I could even process the words.

Peter was only 66, far too young to have slipped away from us already. The word I think of to describe Peter is effervescent. His personality bubbled out every moment you were with him. He was always willing to try something, always ready to make a plan, always ready to laugh.

We are so lucky we had game night only a few weeks ago – we are supposed to be gathering next Thursday for games and our new recipe for pork chops. I have a really big lump in my throat just trying to grasp that he is not here to join us. We heard about his amazing trip to France, how he biked up and down mountains with his two brothers. What a gift for them to have had that trip together.

I hope all my friends and family have some idea of how important they are to me. Thank you for reading and keeping me in your thoughts. Please know I would hug you if you were here.
