Our friends Donna and Raymond threw us a surprise wedding, to celebrate our 40th anniversary year. We were met in the yard with our bridal attire, then entered with our distinguished clergyman. Imagine our surprise when our 4 attendants processed in from the dining room, all in our original sapphire colors. It was so beautiful and HILARIOUS.
Local Jenny surprised us and Becky and Sally from Illinois really surprised us by being there. What an absolute treat!!! We had an incredible meal – I had three helpings of potato salad and three helpings of pasta salad. I talked way too much (surprise! or not) about how we met, Benjamin’s wedding, and other wedding-adjacent tales from the past. I also laughed a LOT.
As we finished eating, the doorbell rang. I was encouraged to answer it. Lo and behold, Mrs. Roper from Three’s Company was at the door. You just never know who might knock on your door! It is extraordinary when someone leaves the dinner table how much you do not expect their alter ego to be at the front door. Complete surprise.
The ride home in the convertible on this perfect night was the cherry on top of a wonderful night.
