Not cold enough

Saturday, December 1, 2025

It was -4° when I got up this morning, but that didn’t seem cold enough, so we packed up and drove to Duluth. Ha! It’s -11° (feels like -34°) now, so we are winning. In a dumb way. The big lake was steaming. It looked cool.

We went to see the Christmas decorations at Glensheen mansion. They were lovely. And there were creepy elves.

We went to the Black Woods restaurant and it was spectacular. We each ordered our meals, then Keith added a half rack of ribs. That’s a thing – add a half rack for $12. He asked if I would eat some and I said yes, but I knew I wouldn’t need to or want to. He is a good eater and I am not really a rib fan. Except now I am. Best ribs! We couldn’t get over how delicious and perfect they were. We do enjoy our food!

We drove to Cloquet and Keith went off to play a concert with the American Pojiat band. Afterward, Keith picked me up in a warm car and we went out for a 9pm meal with the choir that sang with them and the rest of the band. There were 17 of us. I thought it would be awkward, because we don’t know any of the choir and only a couple of the band members. Turns out I sat next to a guy named Steve who sang with the choir who was HILARIOUS! He plays accordion while unicycling. And sings opera. And raps in Finnish. And composes. And travels the world. And, and, and! I picked the best seat 🙂 What a laugh-filled evening!!
