We went to the Park Square Theatre tonight for the first time – for the opening show of their 51st season. Huh. I wonder what took us so long. We learned the ins and outs (literally) of a “new” parking ramp. It was new only in that we had previously entered from another side and didn’t realize it was the same place. Huh again.
The show was good. It came from an 1840s story that was adapted into a show called the Matchmaker that was adapted into a musical called Hello Dolly and then turned into this show by cutting the music and the Dolly part and focusing on the night on the town by the grocery store workers. On the Razzle was apparently a way to reference a big night out. The cast was very good, and the word play was sharp. The audience was small – I guess it is Wednesday night – so I hope more people come on the weekends.
Five minutes before the show started I asked Keith if he wanted a Dr. Pepper. I had seen them in the cooler at the refreshment stand and it was on my mind. He asked if I wanted one. I considered. “Well, I reallllly want one, but I’m not thirsty.” This caused him to laugh too long and hard to have time to get me one (apparently just for having). We shared one during intermission.
