Osaka

Barbara uploaded some pictures from our day in Osaka, then promptly fell asleep. So, I’ll put all of the pictures here with a brief caption under each to let you know what it is.

These may or may not be in any order that makes sense. I’m tired too, so I’m not going to think hard about it.

Breakfast at our hotel restaurant was served via a robot
Breakfast was pretty odd. One undercooked egg, two small sausages, dry shredded cabbage, and some little bits of unrecognizable food items. Neither is us thought much of it.
Osaka Castle
The castle walls were clearly built before the invention of the level
Or before any means of measuring stones to make sure they’re the same size and shape
Looking out at the city from the top of the castle
The five-storied pagoda at the Shitennō‑ji Buddhist temple, which was rebuilt eight times
Must be on their way to take wedding or engagement pictures at Shitennō‑ji
The Shitennō‑ji Temple is a large complex
The turtle pond at Shitennō‑ji
One of the Shitennō‑ji gates, this one with what looked like two genies, a red one and blue one
I can only guess what’s happening here… maybe what happens when you try to take a picture down the well at Shitennō‑ji, but have the camera set for a selfie
Our maybe trying to take a picture of the ceiling of the well
The entrance to a cemetery
These cemetary statues were dressed up
The best thing at the cemetery
Every now and then you come across beautiful plum trees
Or cherry trees
This department store has a large ride in front
Giant Pokemon cards on the side of a building
These vending machines are everywhere along the streets
Takoyaki is deep fried octopus, as clearly explained by this sign
Tsūtenkaku (“Tower teaching heaven”)
I don’t know what Mike is whispering to this guy
Many different flavors of kitkat bars
Trying to figure out trains
