They built a bridge over I-94 and a dedicated lane for a bus line to go to St. Paul. It took years and presumably lots of money. It opened in June. I know some friends who have ridden it downtown to the Capitol to protests, but other than that, I know nothing. Sue and Peter planned an outing for us (anniversary outing!) to take the Gold Line downtown and have dinner at 1881, the restaurant in Union Depot.
I loved it. I loved it because it was very interesting to see where the new road was and because Peter and Sue knew what they were doing. No fear of getting on the wrong bus or not knowing where to get off! Huzzah!

Dinner was delicious in the lovely train station. The hostess asked if we needed any crayons when we checked in and Peter got some for me. I enjoyed coloring while we were chatting. Four crayons really makes you wonder what color to make everything.

We stepped out of the building and the light rail was right there. We got a ticket, which was also good for the bus (who knew?! Sue and Peter!), and got on the train. We went one stop to the bus stop. Ha! Just clever us!

Quite a few people were on the bus with us, but they all got off before we got back to Woodbury. Once our two cars left the ramp, there was only one left. I think if they ran a bus to the state fair, there would be a LOT of cars there.

Fantastic outing! Rah Peter and Sue!!! Wish we weren’t so far away – I wanna do this!!!
This anniversary thing might be my best idea yet. We sure are enjoying all the gatherings!
My new hobby is to try to take the bus whenever I can. I haven’t worked real hard at this new hobby, but it’s growing on me.
I’ve taken the bus to:
* the restaurant at Union Depot that you mentioned, both with friends from Woodbury and also meeting a friend there who took the bus from the other direction (so a doubled bus experience)
* several times for the protests you mentioned
* the indigenous food truck fest at Harriet Island
* meet friends for coffee at Selby and Dale (Marc Heu Patisserie. Worth the trip). It took only one transfer and solved the parking questions.
* a variation: I parked my car near Selby and Snelling to catch the regular Snelling bus to the State Fair. For seniors, an all—day pass is only $2.
The MTC app offers trip planning help that makes bus travel easy. I appreciate that we have mass transit. It does help, I must admit, to be retired and to have a little extra time.
Hurray for you!! That is outstanding
